Hey, Angelenos and other Californians, spread this one around

Cities throughout California—the nation's largest car market—prohibit the heaviest SUVs on many of their residential roads. The problem is, they don't seem to know they've done it.

Fascinating article about the inconsistencies of having tax laws that give breaks to owners of vehicles over 6,000 pounds (which encompasses most large SUVs) without also enforcing the traffic laws that ban such vehicles (whose weight promotes faster road deterioration) from most residential streets in Los Angeles County and many other places. I knew there was a legitimate reason for me to think that my street just isn't a good place for someone to drive a Hummer. (And any of you who have seen my street probably agree!)
