It rained again last night. Not an overly lengthy or powerful rain, but a relatively soaking one that lasted for several hours. This wasn't a source of alarm for me, although I had the requisite low level of concern that comes with living off a main road that is still partially closed from mudslide damage. So last night as I drove home (very late, about 5 am), what do I see, but a lonely newsvan, sitting at the bottom of the hill, with a rather forlorn newsman looking up at the hill above him, as if willing it to clobber him.
My take on this: they sent the newsvan to my neighborhood just in case the hill came down, so they'd have an exclusive if it did.
