Film reviews galore

A couple entries back, I promised to review the *other* movie I saw on a plane during the Rhode Island trip. Here goes:

HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE in 25 words or less:
First half's an OK Dragnet setup, but comes out boring. Second half's a decent chase scene. Two different movies but neither is funny - or good. C.

Then, this weekend, I saw two movies that could not have been more different from each other. Liked both of 'em:

SCHOOL OF ROCK in 25 words or less:
Starts slow, but ends up with some of the most memorable and funny lines and scenes in a while. Repeat after me: Jack Black rocks. A-

LOST IN TRANSLATION in 25 words or less:
Slower'n molasses in February, but gorgeous, charming, subtly-acted, touchingly funny, sensitive, and True. Full of "moments." A tone poem in film. B+

Someday I'll post something that's actually about *me.* Although I'd hazard the thought that anyone's reviews are as much about themselves as about the subject of the review. There's my philosophical bit for the day.
